How to Make Money Travel Blogging: A Realistic 90-Day Plan
A week-by-week plan for turning a new travel blog into a booking engine — what to publish, what to link, and what to measure over the first 90 days.

Making money travel blogging is less about writing more and more about writing the right ten posts, then linking them properly. Here is a 90-day plan built around that.
Days 1–14: Choose and set up
- Pick one destination cluster you genuinely know — one country, or one region.
- Choose your categories: stays, tours, car rental, insurance.
- Set up your affiliate accounts before you write, so nothing is published without links. A travel network like Travelpayouts covers all of those categories from one account, which avoids the dashboard sprawl that stalls most beginners.
- Add your disclosure component so it appears on every post automatically, as the FTC requires.
Days 15–45: Publish the ten posts that earn
Write these, in this order:
- Where to stay in [destination], by neighborhood
- Best time to visit [destination]
- [Destination] itinerary — 5 days
- [Destination] itinerary — 7 days
- Is [signature experience] worth it?
- Getting around [destination]: rental car, transfers, or public transport
- [Destination] on a mid-range budget vs luxury
- Best day trips from [destination]
- What to know before visiting [destination]
- [Destination] packing and connectivity guide
Every one of these maps to a purchase. Notice that none of them are "10 dreamy photos of".
Days 46–70: Link and interlink
- Deep link every named hotel, tour, and rental — property page, not homepage.
- Interlink all ten posts so readers move from inspiration to decision inside your site.
- Add a short "book this trip" section at the natural decision point of each article, not at the bottom where readers have already left.
Days 71–90: Measure and double down
Track three things only:
- Bookings (not clicks)
- Booking value per post
- Which post produced them
Then rewrite and expand your top two performers. In almost every travel blog, a small number of pages produce most of the revenue, and the fastest growth comes from making those pages better rather than adding new ones.
What to expect
Search traffic takes months to mature; travel commissions hold until the trip is completed. It is entirely normal for a post published in month one to pay for the first time in month five. That lag is why the creators who win are the ones who set links up correctly at the start rather than retrofitting a year later.
After 90 days
Repeat the same ten-post structure for a second destination. The template compounds: the same skeleton, applied to a new place, with an audience and a link setup that already exist.
