How private jet travel actually works

1. On-demand charter (what you book on TimeFlys)
You enter your route, dates, and passenger count and see available aircraft from vetted operators with their own rates. You book the trip directly with the operator, who handles the charter agreement, deposit, and flight coordination. You pay per trip — no membership, no upfront deposit locked into one operator. Best for occasional travelers and one-off trips.
2. Empty legs
When a chartered jet flies somewhere and needs to return empty (or reposition for the next trip), operators sell that "empty leg" at a discount. They're real, but they're constrained: fixed route, fixed date, fixed aircraft, and they can be canceled if the primary charter changes. Great if your schedule is flexible; unreliable if it isn't.
3. Jet cards
You pre-pay a set number of flight hours at a fixed hourly rate on a specific aircraft category. Predictable pricing, guaranteed availability with short notice, and no per-trip negotiation. Downside: upfront capital (typically starting in the low six figures), hours often expire, and you're locked to one card provider's fleet.
4. Fractional ownership
You buy a share of a specific aircraft (or fleet share) and pay monthly management plus hourly operating fees. Makes sense at very high annual flight-hour usage. Overkill for anyone flying private a handful of times a year.
