Empire Journal | Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade hotels
Hotels Near Macy's Herald Square for the Parade Finish
The balloons end their run in front of the Macy's flagship. These are the hotels on lower 6th Avenue, and what the finish is actually like.

The finish is the part television shows you: the performance stage, the Macy's flagship, the balloons turning west on 34th Street. It is also the most compressed crowd on the route, because the parade ends and three and a half million people decide to leave at the same time. Staying within a few blocks turns that from a problem into a non-event — you walk upstairs.
The 2026 route, in one paragraph
Thanksgiving falls on Thursday, November 26, 2026, and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade steps off at 8:30 a.m. The line of march has been the same shape for years: it starts on Central Park West at 77th Street, runs south along the park to Columbus Circle, turns east onto Central Park South, turns south onto 6th Avenue (Avenue of the Americas), and runs all the way down to 34th Street, finishing in front of Macy's Herald Square. Every hotel worth booking for this holiday sits on one of those four stretches.
The hotels on lower 6th Avenue
- Bryant Park Hotel (40th) — the black Radiator Building on the park, with rooms that look over Bryant Park and the holiday market. The best-looking address on this stretch.
- Refinery Hotel (38th) — a converted 1912 millinery factory in the Garment District, with a rooftop that looks at the Empire State Building.
- Marriott Vacation Club Pulse, New York City (37th) — suite-style units with kitchens, a block and a half from the route.
- Hilton Garden Inn New York/West 35th Street — as close to the Macy's flagship as a mid-priced hotel gets.
- Eventi, a Kimpton Hotel (30th) — a plaza-facing hotel just south of the finish, quieter on parade morning than anything north of 34th.
What the finish is actually like
Barricades along 34th Street near the store fill earliest, and the performance area is credentialed. You are not walking up at 8 a.m. and getting the television angle. What you get instead is the balloons at eye level as they come down the last blocks of 6th Avenue, then the street clearing fast. From any of these hotels you can watch until you are cold and be inside in five minutes.
The other reason to stay here
Black Friday. You are standing at the Macy's flagship, Bryant Park's market is at your door, and the 34th Street corridor is the densest shopping in the country. If the parade is the morning and shopping is the weekend, this is the address that does both without a train ride.
Book it — the whole stay in one place
- Expedia — Bryant Park Hotel, Refinery, Marriott Vacation Club Pulse and the Hilton Garden Inn side by side, plus activities and airport transfers.
- IHG One Rewards — Eventi is a Kimpton, so IHG points and elite benefits apply.
- Hilton Honors — for Hilton Garden Inn New York/West 35th Street, the closest points-bookable hotel to the finish.
- Luxury Escapes — worth a price check on the Bryant Park Hotel before booking direct.
- Southwest Rapid Rewards — two free bags, which matters if you are flying home after Black Friday.

What Rich Off Travel AI is, and why it matters for a trip like this
Rich Off Travel AI is the trip-planning studio behind Empire Experience. It is a web app, not a course and not a PDF. You type in a city, your dates and your budget, and in about two minutes it hands back a day-by-day itinerary — where to stay, where to eat, what to do on each specific date — that you can edit stop by stop. For a Thanksgiving weekend in New York that means the parade morning, the dinner reservation, the museum afternoon and the day you actually shop, planned around the streets that will be closed.
If you also post your travel, it does the second half: 30 content ideas with hooks, captions and shot lists for Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Pinterest, ready-to-send pitch emails for the hotels and restaurants on your route, and a plan for earning from the trip through affiliate links and brand work. That part is optional. Most people just want the itinerary.
It is $19/month with a 7-day free trial, and you can cancel in one click.
